A Visit To Margate Update

I wrote a post on Margate a few years back and as it's ever changing there I felt it was about time I did an updated version. Last weekend I visited with two friends, we had the best girlie weekend there staying at my Nana's bungalow in Cliftonville.

From the bungalow we walked up Northdown Road it's a place that can easily be missed if you're just visiting for the day. Northdown road is full of fun cafes and vintage shops so a must visit. Make sure you pop into Cliff's for coffee, cake, breakfast or lunch. We filled up on soup and hash browns delish!

Some must visit shops on Northdown Road:

Reo Jewels all jewellery is handmade at the back of the shop by owner Bee. Bee creates statement pieces with a difference. Using unique stones and castings. The shop is just like the jewels gold, shiny and decadent. Don't forget to browse her one off pieces these are extra special. I'm lucky enough to have a few of Bee's pieces and always get comments on them.

We then visited the newly opened House De'Ville a vintage shop with trend led pieces and lots of reworked/ handmade bits as well as some killer jewellery. We loved the Rose berets. It's beautifully curated and a must visit if you love vintage.

Next up was Clueit Webb Interiors a retro interiors store and reupholstery studio. You can see the guys working on pieces in the store and the walls are covered in fabric swatches. We all felt very inspired here. The owner recommend lots of places for us to eat and drink that evening too which was so lovely!

Our last stop on Northdown road was QV Dog Store as dog owners we had to pop in. It's all natural, eco friendly and full of toys, treats and food. Tried and tested by the owners doggo Matilda. Tommy the owner was super helpful and offered lots of advice.

From Northdown road we walked into Margate it's a bit of a walk but there's plenty to see on route. Some shops we loved in Margate were:

AARVEN - beautiful selection of fair trade goods made in India and Africa. I picked up some vegan chocolate for Ed. We especially loved the jewellery!

Just Jane - Vintage shop full of handpicked vintage. There was lots to lust over. French cuff shirts, 70's maxi dresses and gorgeous knitwear.

All the shopping made us thirsty so we popped into Dukes for a drink. What a place the interiors are truly stunning. French bistro vibes with a big cocktail menu. In spring they hope to offer food too so we'll have to go back.

One of the recommend places was Fort Road Hotel. We decided to head there and check out the food menu it wasn't quite what we were after so we decided to just have a drink in their basement bar. The cocktails are a must and make sure you order a side of olives!!!

For dinner Waverly House was recommend to us so we managed to get their last table by the bar. The food was amazing and service was exceptional. After food we had a cheeky espresso martini and the headed to Olby's soul cafe to end the night.

It was the perfect weekend away! And we didn't even scratch the surface there is so much to see and do in Margate. I'd recommend visiting in the Winter as it's not as busy and make sure you walk lots and really explore. Chat to the locals as they always know the best spots!

On the Sunday we walked along the beach to Botany Bay and the sun came out just in time!
