My grandparents live in Margate so when visiting last week I made the most of it and visited some of it's best independents! A once run down seaside town it's having a bit of a resurgence. There's not much to the high street although I would recommend and visit to the charity shops most selling everything for under £5! Further down the high street towards to new town you'll find the most amazing independent brands and vintage boutiques!
Werkhaus - 30High Street, Margate, CT9 1DS
Werkhaus has the most amazing collection of vintage and new work wear all carefully hand picked beautiful minimalist pieces. Along side their clothing they selling beauty, accessories and gifts. The shop even smells good which is down to Haeckels another local brand. They stock a few on their products including incense cones (I had to buy the lemon balm ones!) and beard oil (that's great on long hair too apparently!).
Just Jane - 7 Market Place ,Margate , CT9 1EA
Just Jane was the first vintage store I popped in, it is a vintage haven. I had a really good chat with one of the owners and he was so passionate about vintage and each piece in the shop had a story to tell. Everything there is privately bought and specially hand picked. This means it's all in the best condition and fairly priced.
Mor - 38 Fort Hill, Margate
Mor is a beautiful shop with seaside views. Full of treasures from small independent brands. When I visited I met the shop dog Gladys wearing the cutest knitted jumper! They even had 25% off for Jan so I couldn't resist buying a few bits!
The Turner wasn't open but I would highly recommend a visit there too! - Rendezvous, Margate, Kent, CT9 1HG
There are quite a few other vintage and antique shops well worth a visit. You can easily spend a weekend wandering round and finding gems.
Fort Road Yard - Fort Rd, Margate CT9 1HF
Another must visit purely for a photo op is the Fort Road Yard. It is full of old (think from dreamland) fairground rides, signs and neon lights. If you want something unique for your house this is where to go!
